Double girder cranes are widely used in indoor and outdoor industrial and mining enterprises, the iron and steel chemical industry, railway transportation, port terminals, logistics turnover, and other departments and places.

Double girder crane operating procedures

Double girder cranes are generally composed of three major parts: mechanical, electrical, and metal structures.

Double girder crane before work

  • Check parts such as brakes, hooks, wire ropes, and safety devices according to the spot check card’s requirements, and if abnormal phenomena are found, they should be ruled out.
  • The operator must turn off the main power supply only after confirming that there is no one on the walking platform or track. When a lock or notice board is on the power circuit breaker, the main power supply should be closed only after the original relevant person removes it.

    • When lifting a heavy object for the first time in each shift (or when the load reaches the maximum weight), the heavy object should be lowered after reaching a height of 0.5 meters from the ground, and the brake performance should be checked to confirm that it is reliable before normal operation.
    • During the operation, the operator should sound the alarm for the following operations, according to the regulations. ①. Lifting and lowering heavy objects, when driving large and small vehicles. ②. When the crane passes through with unclear visibility, the alarm should be sounded continuously. ③. When the crane is driving close to another crane within the span. ④. When lifting heavy objects close to people.
    • The operation should be carried out according to the unified command signal.
    • When the power is suddenly cut off during work, all controller handles should be placed in the “zero” position, and the crane should be checked for normal operation before restarting work.
    • During the normal operation of the large and small cranes, it is strictly forbidden to use the reverse brake to stop; when changing the direction of movement of the large and small cranes, the handle must be placed in the “zero” position to completely stop the mechanism before driving in the reverse direction.
    • For cranes with two hooks, when the main and auxiliary hooks are replaced and the heights of the two hooks are similar, the main and auxiliary hooks must work independently to avoid collisions between the two hooks.
    • The crane with two hooks is not allowed to hang two objects at the same time with two hooks; adjust the brake of the lifting mechanism when it is not working.
    • It is not allowed to use the limit position limiter to stop, and it is strictly forbidden to adjust the brake of the hoisting mechanism under load.

    Double girder crane maintenance requirements

    • Maintenance personnel should obtain the special equipment operation certificate issued by the state and provide relevant certificates to the owner for archiving.
    • When performing maintenance work, the operator should wear personal labor protection equipment, including wearing a hat, fastening belt, and warning belt.
    • Carry out operations in strict accordance with the driving operation rules, and illegal operations are strictly prohibited.
    • The maintenance personnel shall obey the management regulations of the owner and the arrangements of the management personnel of the owner during the maintenance period of the owner’s factory.
    • After each maintenance, maintenance personnel must provide maintenance records, including maintenance content, replaced consumables, and the name and quantity of accessories. Each double-girder crane maintenance record must be signed and approved by both parties.
    • After receiving the repair call from the owner, the maintenance party should arrange for personnel to come to the scene as soon as possible and generally solve the general fault within 2 hours.
    • Special faults should be communicated with the owner in time, and Party B should solve the fault within 24 hours after approval.
    • After the maintenance personnel diagnose the driving failure, if it is necessary to replace spare parts for maintenance, in principle, the owner shall provide the spare parts, and the maintenance party shall be responsible for the replacement and maintenance.
    • If a major hidden danger is found in the double-girder crane, the crane machinery management personnel of Party A shall be notified immediately, and corresponding suggestions for rectification of the hidden danger shall be provided.
