• Span and cantilever length

The span of the gantry crane is an important factor affecting its quality. When selecting models, the span should be minimized under the premise of meeting the equipment use conditions and the span series standards.

• Determination of wheelbase

(1) To be able to meet the stability requirements of the gantry along the direction of the crane track;

(2) The overall dimensions of the goods should be able to smoothly pass through the flat steel frame of the outriggers;

(3) Pay attention to making the wheelbase B and the span S have a certain proportional relationship, generally take the wheelbase B=(1/4-1/6)S.

• The spacing size is determined

During work, there should be a certain amount of space between the external dimensions of the gantry crane and the passage of goods and transport vehicles in the yard to facilitate loading and unloading operations. When loading and unloading within the span, the general transport vehicle should keep a distance of more than 0.7m from the door leg. When the spreader is not working, there should be a distance of more than 0.5m from the transport vehicle, and when the goods pass through the door legs, there should be a distance of more than 0.5m.

Precautions for selection of gantry cranes

• The user should properly put forward the requirements for the working level of the gantry crane according to the standard. If possible, the working level of each mechanism of the gantry crane should be further specified to ensure that the manufacturer can design and manufacture according to this requirement.
• The working classof the gantry crane is determined by two factors: the use level and the load state level. The use level of the gantry crane determines the working busyness of the equipment, which is determined by the total number of working cycles of the crane, which can be determined by the estimated number of years of use of the crane (the number of years before the crane is scrapped or renewed), and the average number of working days per year. , the product of the average number of lifting work cycles per working day and other three numbers is obtained. The load state level of the gantry crane determines the severity of the gantry crane’s hoisting load. Usually, the above two calculations only need to be estimated and do not need to be very precise.
• The working classof the gantry crane is only an evaluation of each mechanism as a whole. It roughly represents the use level (design life, working hours) of the equipment and the load state level of the equipment (reflecting the load). The overall state of the mechanism’s work is determined by the level of the light and heavy state or the load spectrum factor). Similarly, the two calculations of the mechanism’s service level and the mechanism’s load state level only need to be estimated, and very precise calculations are not required.
• If the required data related to the use of the gantry crane cannot be provided, the working level of the gantry crane and its mechanism cannot be selected by calculation and table look-up according to the above method. • When ordering, the customer should specify the lifting weight, span, lifting height,and the working level to be selected, and provide process information such as the working environment and usage conditions of the workshop and site.
